#JohnnyCooper #OnThisDay 27th February 2000 (according to Champ Man 99/00)

It has been a quiet week after the high of Rotherham. All eyes have been on Barnet, who come to us today. Sisso’s out and Talls isn’t back in full training yet and neither is GK. I might have to risk one of them, or I could turn to Cervera who hasn’t figured much recently. Cisto is definitely back though, and he comes in for Asko. I got to the ground early, put the kit out with Leathers and we had a cuppa in silence, I think he has had a bad week outside of Field Mill. In the silence, I decided to risk GK, as Talls hasn’t played for a month. I know it is a football cliché, but if we lose today it means the win against Rotherham was totally pointless. I told the lads as much in the team talk.

It wasn’t much of a game, to be honest. We had eleven shots on target, and Onesy put us ahead in a very close first half. I was just saying to Stace how we needed that second goal when Jorgy headed home Cisto’s corner. We didn’t manage a clean sheet as they got a late lifeline, but it’s another three points in the bag, more fish and chips for the missus and we are up to seventh!

I got home to the news that Steve Bould has been banned for 90 days for “assaulting” Steve Bennett after getting two yellows for Sunderland against my old side, Wimbledon. Wow, you don’t see that very often and I always assumed it would be Martin Keown from that old Arsenal back four who would do something stupid. We have a week to prepare for Exeter away, can this run continue?
